"The telescreen was giving forth an ear-splitting whistle which continued on the same note for thirty seconds. It was nought seven fifteen, getting up time for office workers." Page 31

I chose this quote because the concept behind the "Telescreen" is a excellent example of the extent of the Inner Party's control of Oceania. They are controlling to the point of essentially installing a camera into each individual's home which allows them to not only watch everything their citizens are doing, but control when they wake up and actually talk to them to repremand when they are 'getting out of line.' Home is thought to be a place of sanctuary, where you can unwind and be yourself; live by your own rules. This concept in Oceania, however, is more a fantasy then anything else.

  1. I think this is a very good picture because it is alot like how I pictured it in my head. I also thought the fact that it was shaped like an eye was creepy in a way becuase it reminds me that "big brother is watching them" and the thought police are always trying to catch you through the telescreen. I also think it's creepy because it's always on.

  2. I think this is a great quote describing how much the government controls the peoples life. And what everyday life is like.
